Two Months & Eighteen Months

It's hard to believe it's time to do another monthly post about the kids! Cole is now two months old. He has changed a lot in a month. He's starting to coo and likes doing tummy time while holding his head up looking around. He is really starting to pay attention to things more as well. He is also growing so fast! His two month checkup was last week and he weighed 13.8 lbs and measured 24 inches long! He's already wearing six month clothes! Here I thought Marie grew fast, but I don't think she was in six month clothes at two months! Anyway, he is on a pretty good schedule now. During the day he eats about every two to three hours. At night he is doing amazing ranging from five to seven to eight hours of sleep in between feedings! It's nice getting some sleep again. So far he has been a very enjoyable baby. Here are some recent pictures and videos of him.

His cooing is so cute!

Playing with a rattle for the first time.

Marie is now eighteen months old and is becoming quite the helpful little girl. She loves working in the kitchen with me stirring things, unloading the dishwasher, and just keeping me company. Everyday she keeps adding words to her vocabulary. She will talk your ear off if you let her! :) It's really fun hearing her talk. She also loves to be outside. We have a swing on the front porch that she constantly asks to be in. She loves going for walks and her new found favorite is going to the park! We have one about 1/2 mile away so it's a nice walk for me. :) She also had her checkup and weighs 28 lbs and measures 32 inches long! She's already in 2T clothing so she's growing up fast as well! A funny thing happened last week at church. The Pastor said the word "know" and Marie heard him say it so in turn she says quite loud "I know!" It was pretty funny. I guess there's no question about whether or not she's listening to the sermon! :) She will go around the house all the time saying "I know" now. Here are some recent pictures and videos of her.

Spring Cleaning

I felt like Mole doing his spring cleaning this last weekend, because we turned our room inside out and then decided to paint (since we don't use whitewash).  The room is currently deep red, and in desperate need of attention.

I'll post a picture when I'm finished.  So far, we've got one coat of fresh paint on, but with such a deep color, it's definitely going to take two coats.  We're going with "Wild Blue Yonder" for our new paint color, which is less Blue Angels and more of a tasteful sky blue.

Art in Bloom

A couple weekends ago we went to the Saint Louis Art Museum for their "Art in Bloom" event. It's a fun thing they do once a year. They have florists come in and get inspired by a piece of art and then try and copy it. The results are pretty amazing! There were 37 displays but with two kids we didn't see near that many! We saw several though which was fun. It was a fun free activity for a weekend (yes, we love STL for all the "free" things to do!).

Marie & Derek on the shuttle to the museum

Cole & Nathania (he loves being in the Ergo!)

The first floral display we saw as we walked in the door. It was beautiful!

The first few I took pictures and didn't think to take a picture of the art that inspired the florist. So you will just have to see the beautiful flower display only.

This was one of my favorites. I thought it was really unique.

Here's finally one that you can see the flowers and art work. Isn't that cool?

Derek's favorite as well as mine. It's supposed to be a peacock. Doesn't it really look like one?

The artwork.

This one was interesting too!

I think they did a great job matching this one!

Another interesting one.

It was amazing to me how close they could get to the artwork!  This was actually the elevator grill from the old Chicago Stock Exchange!

Marie was fascinated with something on her stroller and not the artwork apparently. It's sure been nice having a double stroller but sometimes we get interesting looks!

We all had a great time. It seems to be a tradition for us to take our kids to the art museum when they are young. Marie went when she was really little and now Cole. I guess we are teaching them early right? :)

Spring is Coming!

The other day Marie and I were able to eat our supper on our back porch. It was a lovely 60 degree day! We had a great time enjoying the sunshine, birds, and food. Marie loves being outside and eating so put the two together and you have a win-win! :) Here's a couple pictures for you.

Living with a Toddler

Today while I was busy changing Cole's diaper Marie got really quiet. That usually means she's doing something she's not supposed to. Here's what I found her doing!

She was quite pleased with herself!

Living with a toddler is fun but they sure know how to keep you on your toes!

On a side note, here's a recent video of Cole doing tummy time and holding up his head. I thought you all might enjoy seeing how much he's changing.
