A couple weekends ago we went to the Saint Louis Art Museum for their "Art in Bloom" event. It's a fun thing they do once a year. They have florists come in and get inspired by a piece of art and then try and copy it. The results are pretty amazing! There were 37 displays but with two kids we didn't see near that many! We saw several though which was fun. It was a fun free activity for a weekend (yes, we love STL for all the "free" things to do!).
Marie & Derek on the shuttle to the museum
Cole & Nathania (he loves being in the Ergo!)
The first floral display we saw as we walked in the door. It was beautiful!
The first few I took pictures and didn't think to take a picture of the art that inspired the florist. So you will just have to see the beautiful flower display only.
This was one of my favorites. I thought it was really unique.
Here's finally one that you can see the flowers and art work. Isn't that cool?
Derek's favorite as well as mine. It's supposed to be a peacock. Doesn't it really look like one?
The artwork.
This one was interesting too!
I think they did a great job matching this one!
Another interesting one.
It was amazing to me how close they could get to the artwork! This was actually the elevator grill from the old Chicago Stock Exchange!
Marie was fascinated with something on her stroller and not the artwork apparently. It's sure been nice having a double stroller but sometimes we get interesting looks!
We all had a great time. It seems to be a tradition for us to take our kids to the art museum when they are young. Marie went when she was really little and now Cole. I guess we are teaching them early right? :)
Beautiful! I bet the fragrance filled the museum!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for an exhibit! Thanks for sharing the pictures, looks like a fun time. I don't think that I could pick a favorite, but I really liked the one inspired by the Japanese jar with cherry trees.
